BREEDERS CUP

Crewest Studio has partnered up with the Breeders Cup this year and I am one of the 5 lucky L.A. artists who is turning a life size fiberglass thoroughbred into a piece of public art!

My horse titled "PONY UP" was on display at Pershing Square (in DTLA) during most of the month of October.   It will now be on view at Santa Anita Racetrack to celebrate the Breeders Cup starting this Friday Nov.4th and 5th.

The other four Crewest artists included in this campaign are: Yolanda Gonzalez, Andre Miripolsky, Michael Massenburg, and Clinton Bopp. Check out this cool little video that the Breeders Cup put together:

See you at the races!

LIVE PAINTING: LA TOCADA FESTIVAL

Got to do some live art during La Tocada Festival, a latino rock music festival which took place in an indoor/outdoor Santa Ana venue called The Observatory.

Admittedly, I got a little political on this one. I don't usually like telling people who to vote for but in this case I will tell them who not to vote for!!

MY FACE UP AT UNION STATION

Many of you have already noticed my mug lurking over at Union Station in DTLA!

My portrait is featured there as a part of "The Makers: Portraits of Metro Artists"  As a result of having been a past Metro awarded artist, I was fortunate enough to be photographed by the incredible Todd Gray.

Here are some pics I took at the inaugural event:

Here are my people having fun and taking selfies! If you do the same just remember to hashtag: #ManOneCabezon...lol!

EL CHAVO Y LECHE

I got the opportunity to create a large canvas for one of my favorite childhood heroes, El Chavo del Ocho.  To commemorate his legacy, the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), creator of the renowned got milk? and Toma Leche campaigns, teamed up with Televisa and Grupo Chespirito to proclaim the first El Chavo del Ocho Day at Los Angeles City Hall on September 6th.

The proclamation was declared by Councilman Gil Cedillo in City Hall. Below is a time-lapse video of the making of the artwork and also some pics of the City Hall unveiling event. Enjoy!
