BIOGRAPHY:
Man One
Alejandro Poli, Jr., better known as “Man One”, was born in Los Angeles, California to Mexican immigrant parents and the oldest of three children. His first languages were Spanish and Visual Art.
In 1987, he began painting graffiti on the streets of Los Angeles. He quickly graduated into creating large public murals and became interested in putting his art onto canvas. He then went on to Loyola Marymount University where he earned his B.A. in studio arts.
His artwork has been shown in major museums, including the Getty, The Cheech, L.A. Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Latin American Art and Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He has executed commissioned work for Metro, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, MTV, Disney, Delta Airlines, LA Rams and Nike, to name a few. His work is in permanent collections of established museums and arts institutions.
Socially conscious and community-focused, Man One was officially recognized by the US State Department for his dedication to promoting international understanding and cultural exchange through the arts. His practice serves as inspiration for many involved in the global graffiti art scene.
